If you are not using your Bad Elf Pro+, or GNSS Surveyor with an iPhone or iPad, then you are unable to use the Bad Elf GPS app to change settings on your Elf.

For this reason, we created a browser-based too to modify the settings from a laptop or desktop computer.

To start this process, follow this link to our Online Settings Editor: https://bad-elf.com/pages/online-settings-editor.

Make sure your Bad Elf is turned off, then plug it into the computer, using the MiniUSB cable provided with the Elf. The Elf will light up, and you will be prompted on the Elf's LCD to enable <USB DRIVE MODE. Do this.

Now then, let's begin!

Step 1: This is what you will see as the landing page for the Online Settings Editor. Click Choose File to bring up your computer's file system.

Step 2: Enter your Elf's file system. Select, and open the current-settings.txt file. If you have done this before, you will see a done-new-settings.txt file. Disregard this file.

Step 3: This is what you will see, once the file is open. Change any of the values in this page the settings you desire. When you are finished, click Save, and follow the Download your file here link.

Step 4: This is the page you will be brought to. Click on the downward arrow icon, in the top right corner, to download the file to your computer. It will show up as new-settings.txt.

Note that changing the values manually on this document will be ineffective. Just use the Online Settings Editor.

Step 5: Go to the file system on your computer, and move the downloaded new-settings.txt file to your Elf's file system. If you have done this before, the file may rename itself upon downloading. When in the Elf's file system, it must be named new-settings.txt exactly, in order to update the settings on the Elf. Eject the Elf from your computer when the file is moved, and wait for the Elf to apply the new settings, and restart itself.

Congratulations! You've updated the settings. If you run into any issues, or have questions, please contact us at support@bad-elf.com. Thank you.
